Court Cases

Court Cases

"In June, the Secret Service received an anonymous tip that a Birmingham, Ala., man named Jarvis Britton, 25, was making threats against President Obama via Twitter. The first tweet, posted on June 28, read ”Free speech? Really? Let’s test this! Let’s kill the president!” and was followed by another: ”I’m going to finish this, if they get me, they get me! #ohwell. I think we could get the president with cyanide. #MakeItSlow.” The next day, as if his message wasn’t clear enough, Britton allegedly posted, ”Barack Obama, I wish you were DEAD!”
"After the June rash of Tweets, the Secret Service told Britton that threatening the president is a big deal and to cut it out, but didn’t take any legal action against him. The USSS Internet Threat Desk kept an eye on him, and on September 14, they let the Secret Service know that he allegedly tweeted," "Let’s kill the president. F.E.A.R.”
"Once again alerted to Britton’s tweets, the Secret Service had had enough. Now Britton is in Federal custody, accused of "knowingly and willfully” threatening to take the president’s life."
"Britton’s Twitter account @iTweet_Unspok3n is still up, and there appear to be a few anti-Obama tweets that the Feds didn’t mention in their complaint. On September 8, Britton wrote, Who wants to put a bullet through @BarackObama head?” and on August 28, he posted this gem “@BarackObama Alabama will see my power in the next 36hrs! Word to the secret service!”
"Besides threatening the president, Britton seems to be pretty into Astrology (he’s a Saggitarius, of course) and, suprise, thinks 9/11 was an inside job."
"See court documents below for a peek at the delightfully clumsy way federal prosecutors go about mentioning this newfangled Twitter." - I copied and pasted these from the Internet then quoted it.
This is what can happen if you don't stop texting threats online to someone and the cops are telling you to stop but you just keep on going like nothing is going to happen, but its apart of the law and you can't threat somebody and get away with it.
Well just because there's freedom of speech doesn't mean that you can go and tell everyone mean things, because its just going to hurt their feelings, and threatening them makes it more worse, like if your in school and you make someone mad because they did something to embarrass you, don't just go and threaten them on the Internet and say I'm going to kill you or say I'm going to fight you when you come school tomorrow you just leave it alone because that kid just might be scared and stay home from school all the time because of what that kid said. So don't threaten people because you can go to jail or you can hurt someones feelings.

The First Amendment

The first amendment gives you five basic freedoms, one of the five basic freedoms is freedom of religion

"The Bill Of Rights was written on May 25, 1787, after the second continental congress called for a convection in philadelphia to modify the Articles Of Confederation". "Fifty five of the delegates from the thirteen states were there to fix the weaknesses of the Articles Of Confederation".
The "Bill Of Rights" were created by the founding fathers, they created the bill of rights because the founding fathers did not like a powerful government, so they made these rights to protect other peoples rights.
A lot of people would want freedom of religion more than freedom of assembly, it says that 59% of people are religious, 23% are not religious, and 13% are atheist
This Amendment means something to my life because if this was not a amendment than I would not be able to worship the "God" I would want to worship. I would have to worship the governments "God", so that's why I picked this amendment.
